Not a day goes by that I don't think about my Dad, who I lost in 2023 to Alzheimer's.
It's almost easy to forget that he spent most of his adult life in the US Navy.
Why? Because he wasn't really a 'Military Dad' in the sense that most people would think.
You know, 'I wanna be able to bounce a quarter off that bedsheet, son!' or 'We get up at 0600!' or some other cliche associate with having a career military father.
My Dad, Ted, was quite the opposite. He loved being in the Navy, the systems in place with it, but it didn't define him.
He was a goofball.
He was not always fastidious.
He sometimes slept in.
But he was still a Navy man, he just wasn't all-consumed by it.
Regardless, he enjoyed his time and travels (especially some Malta 'recreation', HEY-YOOOO!).
And so, to you Ted Warywoda and ALL the veterans out there, I say 'Happy Veteran's Day!'.
But to just Ted, I say: I love you. I miss you.
