Landed a pretty decent voiceover gig but it didn't happen the normal way. Here's how it went down.
I've had my issues with voice123.com before. No doubt. But I've since been able to (mostly!) figure out how to use that site so I can get some quality auditions coming my way.
One day, an audition came for what appeared to be a cool documentary (I'll reveal later which one!). For context, each of the jobs posted at voice123.com, and the other casting sites, have a deadline you need to hit for the client to actually receive your audition.
As I'm recording this audition and trying to submit, I encounter a technical error on their site. As I'm trying to figure out this technical error and finally get to submitting, the deadline...HAS PASSED!
Now, I probably should have taken note of the deadline but I would have made it if it weren't for the technical error.
I really wanted a shot at this job so I emailed voice123 and told them what happened. They got back to me and said 'send us the audition and we'll make sure the client gets it.' Um, okay. So I send them the audition figuring this was just lip-service to look like they gave two Shastas.
Flash to a couple weeks later and I receive a message from someone with the client. They let me know that they loved my audition and that I'm one of the talents they're considering for the job.
Flash to a few days after that: I GOT THE JOB!
All because someone at voice123 went the extra mile. Even if I didn't land the job, the fact that someone at the website took the time to go a little bit outside of the norm means a lot to me. And will continue to mean a lot towards me staying with their site.
As for the job, again, I can't say what it is yet but hopefully soon I'll post back with the news.
Until then, keep at it and good luck!
